Research & Development in Greater China

As a specialty chemicals producer, we focus on innovation and proximity to customers in the Greater China region as elsewhere. The centerpiece is our research and development (R&D) center in Shanghai, which cost over €20 million to build. Extended just three years after its opening in 2004, the R&D center in Shanghai is increasingly becoming a hub in our global R&D network. More than that, Evonik will also gradually start the foundational research in China for the best development of local intelligence.

Evonik is also holding the Evonik Meets Science workshop every year. Experts in chemicals area are invited to share their latest research developments in one specific area with Evonik's R&D experts. In China, we have also set up a network of scientific leaders, i.e. Evonik Scientific Advisory Board for the knowledge sharing and cooperations between Evonik and the scientists.
